Job Title: Core Banking System Business Analyst

Location: Igbesa, Lagos
Employment Type: Contract

Role Summary

  • The role entails identifying key business processes, products, and transactions for CBS implementation, translating these into system configurations, and ensuring compliance with accounting and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders across Finance, Compliance, Audit, and IT, as well as the CBS vendor, you will support the alignment of system specifications with operational requirements and address feedback to optimize CBS functionality.
  • Additionally, you will be responsible for defining operational protocols, non-functional requirements, and reporting standards to enhance system efficiency and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and comprehensively enumerate key business processes, products, and transactions that require CBS implementation.
  • Translate business processes and transactions into parameters and configuration specifics in the CBS, e.g., transaction codes and definitions, minimum data requirements per transaction, straight-through processing vs manual entries.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders on specific components.
  • Finance on the accounting entries and reports for all transactions.
  • Compliance and Audit to ensure the right authorities, controls, traceability and checks and balances are defined and implemented across all transactions.
  • Define the operational requirements and processes required to ensure full coverage of transactions and controls including People, Automated entries and traceability of automated entries, maker-checker enforcement etc.
  • Collaborate with engineers, administrators and IT specialists etc. to deliver on the implementation of the parameters and configurations in line with design.
  • Design, organize, conduct and supervise user-testing, collate and analyze feedback and bridge between users CBS specialists (engineers etc.) to implement the necessary updates.
  • Define and track non-functional requirements and SLAs to be fulfilled by CBS.
  • Define reporting requirements for the CBS.


  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience gained in the banking industry.
  • 5-8 years of hands-on experience in deploying core banking systems, with a strong track record of successful implementations.
  • Deep knowledge of banking processes and standards, with a focus on the operational aspects of core banking.
  • Experienced in setting up and upgrading core banking platforms, particularly systems like Finacle or others that are similar.
  • Expertise in creating detailed documentation that captures business requirements, system specifications, and process workflows, serving as a vital communication tool between technical teams and business stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand business needs and processes, pinpointing areas for improvement.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and organizational skills, with the ability to juggle various tasks effectively.
  • Well-versed in project management practices, including monitoring the progress of implementations, ensuring requirements are met, and maintaining timelines.
  • Strong experience in managing relationships with vendors and engaging with stakeholders is crucial.
